Day 9 - Bryce and ATV's

I'm sitting in the campground laundry-mat, updating the blog,
waiting for the rain to stop so we can pack up and move on to Zion.
This rainbow was last night, both nights around dinner, thunderstorms.
Ken and Kayla both said, it can't always be perfect......
both storms followed by a beautiful rainbow.
And dinner was delicious. What could be better than that?
I certainly hope she leaves more room when she's driving!

How a Hoodoo is formed, erosion over many years.

Baby Antelope
Prong Horned Antelope, we actually had one in the campground .

Day 8 - Bryce Canyon, Horseback riding

Our first look at Bryce Canyon was on horseback.
8 miles roundtrip, down into the canyon.
Never could have seen what we did on foot.
Ken's first time on horseback, and
no that wild animal didn't do anything crazy.
The switchbacks and steepness of the trails were mind-boggling.
There were 3 different paths tunneled through the cliffs, all 100+ yrs old

Not sure why, but some of the horses liked walking on the edge, making little dirt and stone avalanches down the cliffs, it was bad enough to see the horse in front of you, but when your own does it and you look down from an additional 7 ft up......

It was a fantastic way to see the canyon.
All were very pleased, if not a bit saddle sore!

Day 7 - Arches to Bryce

So I figured out I've been doing this blog kind of backwards, but I've
gotten this far, so no sense changing it now. Enjoy!

Goblin Valley State Park, Utah in the San Rafael Desert
Crazy place, oven hot among the "Goblins"
Being a state park, we were allowed to climb wherever we could,
and the kids took advantage, can't wait to see Kyles photos.

Different colored rock formations, photos don't do it justice.
Petroglyphs in Capitol Reef.

Scenic By-way on the way to Bryce, who knew it could take 4 hrs to travel 120 miles?
Specially when you have to stop for pictures. What a crazy road! At one point I almost had to close my eyes, straight down on both sides, no guardrails, but wow, what a view!

Day 6 - Rafting the Colorado River

That's a Ranch Resort in the background, complete with
horseback riding and a winery.
Sounds like a good time to me!

Tomorrow it's on to Bryce Canyon National Park and another campground.
Followed by Zion and yes, camping again.
I'll update as I can, not sure of the WIFI access. Stay tuned.

Day 4 - Rocky Mountain National Park

Roughin' it!
Rocky Mountain National Park
Bear Lake @ Rocky Mount
Alberta Falls @ Rocky Mount

Elk! There was a herd of them right next to the road.

Ok, so we missed the sign on the highway,
but surprisingly, first rest stop and there it was!
